Project goal
The main objective of this project was the construction of a gasification pilot plant to recover energy from organic waste, different types of biomass energy crops, forestry pruning and farms, municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial solid waste (ISW) and sewage sludge.
The yield of the different types of biomass and waste for energy recovery was thoroughly analysed on site, and the strength and durability of refractory materials used were also tested. Moreover, in partnership with the Technological Institute of Energy (ITE) of the Autonomous Region of Valencia (Spain), we carried out the characterisation of different types of biomass, analysis of ash composition, calorific tests and optimisation of biomass particle size for better gasifier feeding.
The AIMME Metalworking Technology Institute was also involved in simulation and structural calculation tasks for the prototype reactor.
