Greene Waste to Energy (Greene) will be the only Spanish company taking part in the world forum held in the United States, which is dedicated to the generation of synthesis gas (syngas) for the production of energy or other resources such as fertilisers or chemical products. The Elche-based company has been invited to the Global Syngas Technologies Council (GSTC) that will take place between 28 and 30 October in the city of Colorado Springs with the aim of unveiling the Spanish technology to experts, professionals and investment groups. This technology turns municipal solid waste (MSW) and sludge from the recycling of wastewater into power or other high value-added products (such as methanol, recovered gas or hydrocarbons).
Vicente Centelles, Greene’s Technical Director, will deliver a speech entitled 'MSW and Sludge Gasification' explaining how power can be generated while reducing municipal solid waste and sludge from sewage treatment plants. A Spanish patented technology that has twin benefits – generating power or hydrocarbons and eliminating waste from landfills with an impact on the environment close to zero, according to Centelles.
The GSTC brings together the world's most important companies in the field of syngas to present the most competitive and innovative technologies that generate disruptive products in the syngas generation field. GSTC's invitation to Greene Waste to Energy implies an endorsement of its technology, which thanks to a pioneering gasification process turns daily, industrial or agricultural waste into usable energy. Greene's gasification process, which is protected by a worldwide patent, obtains approximately 1 kilowatt of electric power and more than 1.5 kilowatts of heat energy for each kilo of waste it processes.
In gasification, energy from organic matter is converted into a gas that can be used as a fuel to obtain electric and thermal power, as well as other high value-added products such as methanol, recovered gas (RG), biomethane, etc. Residual ashes may be used as a construction material, fertiliser or for glass manufacturing.
