The importance of ELT gasification

Our projects are designed to satisfy today's industry needs. For example, in Spain some 250,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres (ELTs) are generated per year. Our ELT gasification plants offer convenient solutions for the disposal of such environment-polluting waste.

Currently, 4.6% of the ELTs managed are used for energy recovery, 11.1% for retreading, 1.5% for recycling, and 82.8% are disposed of in landfills. It is estimated that between three and five million tonnes of ELTs are left unmanaged. These figures drive us to develop hi-tech ELT gasification projects.


Specialised hi-tech procedures

Our experienced team closely follows a procedure to set out the best conditions and determine the most appropriate option.

greene has devised a management plan for this type of waste, which consists of the following steps:

  • Tyre collection.
  • Controlled storage.
  • Shredding and processing.
  • Recycling.
  • Energy recovery and alternatives.

ELT pre-treatment

The process can be divided into two stages:

  1.  Initial shredding of tyre
    1. Double shaft shredder which cuts the tyre to a size of 150x150 mm.
    2. Capacity of over 10 t/h.
    3. Duration of blades without sharpening: 5000 t.
    4. Sieve to ensure particle size.
  2. Shredding and separation of rubber, steel and fabric
    1. Reduces particle size to 20 mm.
    2. Nominal capacity of 4 t/h.
    3. Separation of steel using electromagnetic bands, and textiles by gravimetric methods.
